Goblet of Fire

We went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire last night. I am still pretty tired as I wasn't able to drift off to sleep until probably after 3:30 AM.

This movie had to, by far, do the most condensing of the written book into it's 2 hours and 15 minutes. I missed quite a few things but understood the omission of most of them. One character that was sadly missed was Sirius Black. His '"face" is briefly seen in the Gryffindor common room fire but it is nowhere near enough exposure to develop his character into what it will need to be to reflect what a huge loss Harry suffers at the end of the next in the series.

This movie was much darker on every level. The William's score starts the action by playing a variation in minor keys as it dives right into Harry's first scar burning dream. Even some of what would be the most light hearted scenes ( dancing lessons with Mcgonegal ) have the characters with comparatively drab costumes and expressions when you compare it to Prisoner of Azkeban's classroom boggert lesson with Professor Lupin. The music is less light hearted and the colors through the entire film lean to blues and greys. Much missed are the vast pastoral views are the grounds but the scope and perspective of the World Cup scene is awesome.

Refreshing developments in character include those of Neville (I could have danced all night) Longbottom, Fred & George Weasley with and the introduction of Mad-eye (abducted auror) Moody, Cho (but can this Seeker fly) Chang, Lord (?)Voldemort. Speaking of the dark lord, I found his corporeal self just a bit too vulnerable. I knew how this story ended but there really was not a time when I felt he might conquer Harry Potter. When Potter steps out from around the gravestone (wand at the ready) and faces He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, there is never a doubt who is the stronger presence. The 14 year old boy s clearly the victor from that point on.

A big change in how Dumbeldore is portrayed. I would be surprised if we didn't find high blood pressure medication hidden somehwere in his office. He is surlier than before, no more warm and fuzzy head master.

As if this weekend isn't busy enough all ready, I HAD to get us a copy of the newest Harry Potter book last night. To manage the crowds, you had to line up for wristbands to stagger the release at midnight. I ended up getting wristband #2 (see yellow band above) so we were able to jump to the front of the line near midnight. We went dressed up to the store and had a lot of fun walking around checking out the games and other costumes. RGBisMe fell asleep about 15 pages into it but I kept going until page 60. Time to take it along to the arts fest.

Our posse consists of a handful of people. RGBisMe is my strongest ally and most alive person I know. He is a graphic designer and artist. Maga11 is also an artist and is mainly focusing on pen and ink lately. She adds a different perspective when we are on a hunt. Toolman Luke is another creative fellow in the posse. It never fails that he can add a bit of historical background and color to any place we go. Ravenboy, youngest of the posse, lives in NYC as a ballet dancer. His dry sense of humor, never ending energy, and eagerness make each outing with him a fond memory for the whole posse. Others that might ride with the posse include; Tracdc, DaBraLady, AmishPunk, and maybe someday Satan will join us.

The true indigo Trust, established in 1962 with the mission of preserving and protecting true indigo's creative works, is the center from which the business operations relating to the licensing of true indigo's creative output emanate. At its core, the Trust has the responsibility of disseminating and protecting the integrity and the copyrights of true indigo’s work in the present and for the future.

The office of the Trust manages the day to day operations of the mission as set forth by the Trustees, including other creative input from former dancers, artists and current masters. Whether it is the licensing of dances for live performances, a media project, or the use of direct quotes or true indigo’s name, the Trust seeks to continue and uphold the artistic standards and copyright protection that true indigo maintains.

The Trust also organizes the engagement of repetiteurs to teach classes at schools and companies.

All of true indigo’s works have been copyrighted and must be licensed for any use. A website is being created to provide information about all of the works that are currently available for performance or presentation.
